Our Story

Our Journey - Spanning Over 40 Years

Meet the Owner

Mr. Noor, owner of Wafa Boutique, grew up in a family deeply rooted in the tailoring tradition, which has been at the forefront of the fashion industry in Kabul, Afghanistan since the 1980s. At a very young age, he observed his elder brothers expertly work in the field of tailoring, developing a keen interest in the precision of the craft.

International Ventures and Growth

After moving to Peshawar, Pakistan, he underwent professional training in designing and crafting traditional Afghan garments under the expert guidance of his elder brother's handicraft training academy. Over the course of 20 years, he assisted his family's tailoring business branch and played a significant role in stitching custom-made dresses to a wide range of clients.

Following his time in Pakistan, he ventured to east London, England for a period of five years to learn more about the country’s renowned dressmaking techniques. There, he worked as a tailor at Season Boutique, delving into various styles of precision tailoring, contemporizing his approach. He was responsible for altering garments, and putting his years of experience of designing, patterning and repairing clothes to use. Furthermore, he would give clients personalized recommendations on styling their garments, suggesting features or specific alterations they could add to enhance their overall look. Apart from this, observing and understanding the boutique owner's efficient management style would be instrumental in shaping his approach to manage his own store in the future.

Upon gaining this experience, Mr. Noor decided to add value to his family business in Afghanistan, which had grown immensely by then, and served as an inventory dispatch manager. This is where he did quality control of the fabrics and tailored goods from suppliers in their factory to be handed to contractors.
Subsequently, he gained valuable experience working in the United Arab Emirates. Once again, he had the opportunity to infuse Afghan culture into the local demographic, while also acquiring insights into strategies to successfully strengthen his business within Dubai’s fashion industry.

Wafa Boutique's Mission

In 2016, he finally settled in Toronto seeing the rise in demand for Afghan traditional wear amongst Afghan Candians. “Wafa” translates to “faithfulness” which coincides with Wafa Boutique’s mission to be loyal to their customers in terms of providing them with:
  • High quality, authentic items
  • Custom-made pieces which are exactly to their liking
  • Deliveries made at the promised time

Drawing upon years of experience in tailoring, Mr. Noor offers personalized styling consultations for garments, whether off-the-rack or customized to suit each client's individual preferences.
